In August 2024, AMI successfully integrated its innovative game-based learning platform, TEAM FORGING, into the Entrepreneurship and Innovation program at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). This achievement highlights TEAM FORGING’s value not only to business schools but also to technical institutions and researchers, expanding its applicability across various educational fields.
Researchers, recognized as experts in their distinct fields, enthusiastically participated in the program with the objective of developing both a Business Mindset and an Entrepreneur Mindset, essential for the commercialization of research. TEAM FORGING guided this developmental process efficiently, fostering leadership within teams and sharpening business acumen throughout the workshop.
The workshop also underscored the importance of constructive conflict discussions as a platform for problem-solving and consensus-building. One participant shared how the game’s simulated scenarios helped him manage disagreements more effectively in his real-world research work, improving overall team performance.
An impressive 83% of participants rated this pedagogical method 4 stars or above, while 91% embraced the concept of game-based learning. A notable 100% of attendees experienced ‘Aha Moments,’ indicating moments of profound insight. The researchers highlighted the workshop’s significant role in fostering essential skills such as collaboration, effective communication, and patience—all key factors in improving team performance.
”Teaming is not something you can discuss theoretically. As a pedegogy, I think playing ‘TeamForging’ is probably the most effective and intense way to affect that. It creates a very successful classroom experience in creating project teams for the project.”
—Prof. Virginia Cha, Academic Director, Smart Innovation Centre
Looking ahead, AMI remains committed to offering workshops that enhance researchers’ business and managerial acumen, as well as their skills in project team development. We are excited to continue these transformative experiences with SUTD and other academic institutions globally, contributing to the comprehensive development of researchers and their commercialization endeavors.
