In September 2023, AMI had the honor of conducting a groundbreaking leadership decision-making workshop for 24 EMBA students from the UCLouvain BMI Executive Institute at the esteemed National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School.
For the first time, AMI’s TEAM FORGING game was incorporated into an Executive Leadership program, marking a significant milestone. The professors’ decision to include this innovative game-based learning tool proved its suitability and effectiveness for EMBA students, dispelling any doubts.
During the workshop, TEAM FORGING introduced the powerful concept of a “leader of leaders”, sparking intense team confrontations and decision-making challenges. While half of the participants successfully navigated the game’s obstacles, gaining deeper insights into leadership, the other half, despite feeling stressed, learned invaluable lessons about selecting suitable leaders and the inherent pressures of leadership roles.
A highlight of the workshop was AMI’s innovative data dashboard, praised by Program Director Karilė Klug for its ability to vividly illustrate real-time team dynamics. This tool revealed diverse collaboration styles and led to enlightening insights during the post-game data analysis, further enhancing participants’ understanding of leadership and decision-making.
”We can see a bit more of the potential for how different teams can use this tool over time to improve their performance, not only within the game but also outside of it.”
—Karilė Klug, Program Director, BMI Executive Institute
Following the event, both Karilė Klug and Monika Lašienė, Director of Executive Education, expressed strong interest in integrating the game-based training into their EMBA curriculum and corporate programs. This demonstrates TEAM FORGING’s broad appeal and effectiveness in European universities, confirming its value as a training tool that resonates across different educational contexts.
This EMBA workshop underscored the significance of game-based learning as an effective strategy that captivates students from elite institutions across Asia and Europe. The overwhelmingly positive feedback and potential for future collaborations reflect the immense value of this pedagogical approach. AMI looks forward to deepening its collaboration with BMI and expanding partnerships with universities worldwide.
